Plot Summary
The film begins with a narration by Amitabh Bachchan, who explains the geopolitical situation of India and Pakistan in 1971. Pakistan plans to launch a surprise attack on India by sending its most advanced submarine, PNS Ghazi, to destroy the Indian aircraft carrier INS Vikrant, which is stationed in the Bay of Bengal. The Indian Navy gets a tip-off about this plan and sends its own submarine, S-21, to intercept and stop Ghazi. The S-21 is led by Captain Ranvijay Singh (Kay Kay Menon), a hot-headed and aggressive officer who believes in taking risks and attacking the enemy head-on. He is accompanied by Lieutenant Commander Arjun Varma (Rana Daggubati), a calm and rational officer who believes in following protocol and avoiding unnecessary confrontation. The two officers have a clash of ideologies and often argue over how to deal with Ghazi. They are also joined by Devaraj (Atul Kulkarni), the executive officer of S-21, and Ananya (Taapsee Pannu), a Bangladeshi refugee who works as a doctor on board.
