If you do want to visit the Empire State Building twice and/or are completely happy with all City Pass attraction choices, then the pass can be worth it for you. Personally, I would not want to visit the Empire State Building twice but rather visit two different observation decks to see the city from different angles.

We always test passes in person to see how they actually fare in the City themselves. We visit New York often and normally at the busiest times. We used the New York CityPASS during one of the busiest weeks of the year, just after Thanksgiving when the city is absolutely in chaos. The perfect time to test for any flaws in the Pass due to surging crowds.
Basically, with the new measures in place in New York, there is almost NO difference between Buying a Pass and booking Separately in terms of ease and convenience. When reservations are REQUIRED they are required for all not just people with a Pass, and where Walk-ups are allowed the pass usually helps a little, and if not it makes NO difference, apart from the Top Of The Rock where you get the VIP Queue.
I had never heard about citypass but now I do and seems to our a very good option. If I plan for NY visit for sight seeing I will be back on your site. BTW, I loved reading your post. Thank you for letting me know about citypass and your experience.
Thank you for your very thorough review of the NYC city pass. I also appreciated you took the time to update some information as well. I am happy you did the research on the value. Hi Jan, that is exciting you are heading to NYC. It is such an incredible city with so much to do. When we were there, we had the city pass and it was so convenient. If you want to go to the locations that the city pass offers, then it is definitely worth it. As it was our first time visiting, it saved us money. Have a great time. Happy travels.
Just got back from nyc with my family (3 kids). I stumbled upon this blog when I started stressing about not having an itinerary of sorts. We followed it almost completely. Moved a few things around based off that we were there 3.5 days and our hotel location. But this was a lifesaver and helped us make the most of our time. I also like how it was a plan that used the city pass which we had already planned to use. Thanks! 041b061a72
