You can easily edit your shape properties directly using on-canvas controls or accessing Shape Properties under the Properties panel. On-canvas controls make your interaction with shapes more intuitive.
You can use on-canvas transform and rounding controls to adjust the appearance of your shape. The keyboard modifiers will work the same way for on-canvas transform controls as they work in Transform tool in Photoshop. You can modify the radius of all corners of your shape at once or hold Alt (Win) or Option (Mac) as you drag to change the radius of a single corner. For triangles, all corners will be modified even if you drag one of them. Easily rotate a shape using the on-canvas rotate handle that appears as you hover over your shape on the canvas.
To view all the custom shapes that come with Photoshop, click the gear icon on the right of the Custom Shape picker in the shape tool options bar. You will see the list of available shapes. Select any custom shape as desired.

You can easily edit your Custom Shape Tool properties directly from Shape Properties under the Properties panel. You can also use on-canvas Transform controls to transform a custom shape while keeping intact its shape properties.
You also have the flexibility of setting Custom Shape Tool preset directly from the Shapes Windows panel. When you select a custom shape from Windows > Shape panel, this preset will get updated in the Custom Shape Tool > Custom Shape picker as well.
Anyone know how to get to the legacy custom shapes? I don't really need a silhouette of a gorilla, but some of those geometric shapes and word bubbles were things I used all the time and now they seem to be gone. Thanks!
Thank you so much Jeff, although it took me a minute to realise you meant the 'Window' menu on the toolbar. I'm sure I'm not alone here. I kept opening the shape menu on the 'Custom Shape' toolbar. See screenshot folks, just in case!! We're all in a hurry these days so it slipped past me too the first time. FYI its happing for the Brushes too but same solution!Jeff: Windows>Shapes>Restore Legacy or Brushes
I don't have this as an option on my version of PS (v21.0.1). When I clicked "Restore Default Shapes...." it just doubled the folders "Leaf Trees, Wild Animals, Boats, Flowers". I also can't find a download or import of the legacy shapes... any suggestions?
Yes, it is the case because you are not in the shapes panel, but in the option bar, and you did not select the legacy shapes, but restore default shapes option.
Lynette, you mean it is important that you use the shapes panel that you get from the menu Windows>Shapes, and NOT the drop down visible in the option bar.
Yes, I made a feature request about this very issue, please vote and explain how baffled you were not to find the option where you expected to find it in this discussion: -ecosystem-ideas/add-legacy-shapes-patterns-gradients-swatch...
Any suggestions for the Mac version of Photoshop CC 2020? I still have the application support files for CC2019, so I suspect the shapes will be somewhere in there but some help on the folder location would be most useful if anyone can point me in the correct direction.
Sadly the location for custom shapes in PS CC 2019, which I found under Applications/Adobe Photoshop 2019/Presets is empty, so must have been deleted during the update to 2020. Removing the sensible custom shapes like arrows and replacing them with things like flowers and trees seems a retrograde step for professional photographers. I downloaded a free set of custom arrow shapes from -abundant-arrow-shapes-pack and then used the import custom shapes tool (in the "cog" toolbox when you open the custom shapes tool) to import the csh arrows shapes library file.
Tap Remove From Shape and drag your finger over the parts of the shape you want to remove. If you accidentally remove too much or want to add more to your shape, tap Keep in Shape and drag over the additional areas.
Hi, the Ps team created panels that lets you organize things faster, with folders, in some cases recent items, and decided to refresh the contents with new shapes. In order to keep performance at a good level , they decided to groups the older items in a legacy folder that you can get back. They maybe overlooked to share more info about where one can find the legacy items, and I totally agree that they forgot to add the legacy entries in the option bar local menus, where many users go to search for them, by muscle memory.
me: All my photoshop arrows and shapes are missing, not in the drop down menu in the panel either, so I need to draw them all with the pen tool, it will take longer than I thought... may be I can search the forum after work or on lunch so I am not wasting more of the companies time.
They loaded two sets of 4 folders of Boats, leafy trees, fllowers, Wild animals into my shape options folder and deprecated or stashed everything else in either a "2019 shapes" folder, or a "Legacy Default Shapes" folder all hidden underneath another "All Legacy Default Shapes" folder. So I have to drill down that far (see image) to get to things like Arrows. And under "all legacy default shapes" there is a folder called Nature that was always there which would be a great place for Boats, Flowers, Wild Animals, and Leafy Trees. Right next to the "LeafLess Trees" folder that was already there. The best part is in the shapes panels hamburger menu, there is an option for "delete shape" but it is greyed out and neither deletes a shape nor gives us an option to delete the folder. The only thing I can do is take all the Flower folders and next them inside each other and then nest that inside Nature, etc. But then when I need Flowers it's going to be an adventure to go find those under the nested folders!

In this tutorial, I show you where to find and how to load the missing gradients, patterns and shapes in Photoshop! Back in Photoshop 2020, Adobe replaced the classic gradients, patterns and shapes that had been part of Photoshop for years with brand new ones. And it looks like the new ones are now all we have. But the old ones are not gone, they're just hidden. Adobe now calls them legacy gradients, patterns and shapes, and in this tutorial, I'll show you where to find them.
And the legacy ones are not all that's missing. In fact, only a few of Photoshop's new patterns and shapes are available to us by default. Most are hidden, including hundreds of new shapes just waiting to be found. I'll show you where to find them and how to load them so you'll have access to every gradient, pattern and shape that's included with Photoshop!
Unlike the 2019 Patterns folder which included only a few more groups from Photoshop 2020, the 2019 Shapes folder holds 30 more groups with hundreds more shapes in total. You'll find shapes of people, animals, vehicles, games, dinosaurs and more:
And there we have it! That's how to load the missing gradients, patterns and shapes in Photoshop! If you use Photoshop's brushes, you'll also want to learn how to load Photoshop's missing brushes and how to download over 1000 new brushes!
