The origin and plot of Megaloman

Megaloman (メガロマン) was created by Tetsu Kariya, a manga artist and writer who also created Oishinbo and Otoko Gumi. The TV series was produced by Toho Company Ltd., the same company that made Godzilla and other kaiju (giant monster) movies. The series ran for 31 episodes from May 7 to December 24, 1979 on Fuji TV in Japan. From episode 14 onwards, the title was changed to The Flaming Superman - Megaloman (炎の超人メガロマン).

The story revolves around Takashi Shishido, a young boy who lives on Earth with his mother Rosemary. They are refugees from the planet Rosetta, which was invaded by the Black Star Army led by Captain Dagger. Takashi's father Gou was captured by Dagger, who is actually Takashi's evil twin brother Hiroshi. Takashi has a secret: he can transform into Megaloman, a superhuman with fire powers, by using the Megalon Bracelets given to him by his mother. He also has four friends who practice martial arts with him at Sougen Takamine's dojo: Seiji Kurogawa, Hyosuke Yuri, Ran Takamine (Sougen's daughter and Takashi's girlfriend), and Ippei Mashira. They later join Takashi in his fight against Dagger and his army of giant monsters by using their own Megalon Bracelets to become colorful super warriors.

The music of Megaloman was composed by Shunsuke Kikuchi, who also composed the music for Kamen Rider, Dragon Ball, Doraemon, and many other anime and tokusatsu shows.
