As noted at the top, none of the vehicles that made this cheapest new vehicles in 2023 list are new or redesigned. Looking at a broader trend, a large number of cheap compact and subcompact vehicles have recently had their production end in recent years in favor of more development and focus on higher margin, higher demand trucks and SUVs (and now EVs):

There were only a few noteworthy changes to the 2023 cheapest cars ranking. The Chevy Spark and Hyundai Accent were both discontinued for 2023 and have dropped off of the list. The Subaru Impreza and Hyundai Elantra were the benefactors, coming in at #10 and #9 in the ranking, respectively.

Some states have no sales tax at all. Among those are New Hampshire, Alaska, Montana, Oregon, and Delaware. It might seem that a single-digit tax on car sales is no big deal. However, the low percentage from a purchase worth thousands of USD turns into a considerable amount of money. The best state to buy a car should have, if no tax-free policy, at least a moderate percentage. Colorado is among those states. The Centennial State pretends to be the cheapest state to buy a car, with the lowest tax rate of 2.9%

When choosing the cheapest state to buy a vehicle, pay attention to the initial cost, unexpected fees, sales taxes, and car insurance. The initial cost is lower in states with wealthy residents and less stressful financial situations. Otherwise, expect the maximum possible price. Fees, taxes, and car insurance vary from state to state, but there is a pool of good overall picks: New Hampshire, Oregon, Florida, Ohio, Wisconsin, North Carolina, and Missouri. Based on numbers, the cheapest place to buy a car in the USA is New Hampshire. After you get a car, pay proper attention to the delivery. Enclosed car shipping is good for new cars, while open car shipping is a more affordable option, so it suits used cars best.

The final price of a car includes initial cost, unexpected fees, sales taxes, and car insurance. In this regard, the cheapest state to buy a vehicle is New Hampshire. Not only for new cars but used ones as well.

Financing a new car can get pretty expensive very quickly, but you don't have to spend big money to get a flashy car with all the kit. If you're looking for basic, no-frills transport to get you from A to B, there are plenty of options that could cost you no more per month than the combined cost of a couple of takeaways every week. We've listed the cheapest six models based on their official prices and taking into account any deposit contribution finance discounts available.

Opting for a finance deal - especially those that offer 0% APR, or interest-free credit and large deposit contributions - can make these cheap cars even more affordable. However, bear in mind that some of the cheapest new cars come with the worst value finance deals. Citroen, for instance, charges a whopping 11.9% APR figure on the cheapest C3 hatchback, which reduces to 9.9% APR for pricier versions.

It's also worth noting that all the cars listed below are powered by petrol engines (bar the electric Citroen Ami), which are usually best suited to those who cover lower mileages rather than people planning to trawl up and down the motorway all day, every day. There are plenty of small cars on sale that will prove to be more economical over longer distances, though. If you're interested in making the switch to electric power, you can check out our list of the cheapest electric cars.

You don't even have to get a brand-new car. If you're keen to get more for your money, not to mention a much wider choice of models, then there are plenty of used cars available to you here on BuyaCar. This will open the doors to diesel models, more powerful engines, and even more kit like heated seats, cruise control and large touchscreens. But if a low-cost, brand-new car appeals to you, then take a look below at the cheapest models you can buy.

When it launched in 2013, the Dacia Sandero was the cheapest new car available in the UK. The main reason for this low-budget price tag was the fact that the Sandero is incredibly simple. It made - and still makes - use of small engines from Dacia's sister brand Renault, and has done away with practically everything that isn't needed to make the car move.

So, in the cheapest and most basic spec, you get five doors, four wheels, a steering wheel and electric front windows. There's also a selection of useful safety equipment on board including airbags, anti-lock brakes and two Isofix points in the back to safely attach child seats. If all you're looking for is a car that will get you from A to B, what more do you need?

Fuel costs shouldn't be enormous either, as the engines are reasonably economical. That said, the cheapest 1.0-litre engine isn't particularly powerful, so you'll need to work it hard to make swift progress, which increases fuel consumption.

The MG 3 has seen its base price rise dramatically since it was first launched back in 2013. The manufacturer dropped the entry-level Explore trim, meaning the cheapest option is now the Excite model starting at over 13,000. As a result, there are several cheaper alternatives available with arguably more to offer.

The cheapest SE trim is also equipped with features such as cruise control, a digital radio and air-conditioning, while more expensive versions add luxuries such as a heated steering wheel, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. There's also a very useful unlimited mileage five-year warranty, so it's a good option if you want to go used, as you'll still have many years of warranty cover left with nearly new and more recent used models.

Currently, the cheapest version of the extremely popular Nissan Leaf line, this car doesn't compromise. The 100% electric city car offers generous space for up to four people and provides a nippy way to get around town. There are other options available in this line if you're looking for a longer range.

There are just three subcompact sedans left on the market for 2023. Chevrolet canceled its little Spark, which was the cheapest new car for sale in America in 2022. Hyundai HYMTF, +1.43% canceled its subcompact Accent for 2023 as well.

The recent pricing announcement means the Versa has taken the title of cheapest new car in America for 2023. The least-expensive Mirage starts at $16,245, while Kia 000270, +2.02% Rio pricing kicks off at $16,550. Bargain shoppers should note, however, that the Rio has the longest warranty of the bunch.

U.S. News compiled a list of the ten cheapest new cars and SUVs with AWD you can buy. Subaru has three of the ten least expensive new models, more than any car brand. We will explain why they are the best choice for new car shoppers this winter.

But what are the cheapest new cars in Canada and do they really lack essential features? Below we dive into the six cheapest cars and their features below. For those who prefer an SUV, we also cover the five cheapest new SUVs in Canada to see whether better value really means less performance.

With a starting price of $25,804, the 2023 Toyota Corolla is one of the cheapest new cars in Canada. In its base L CVT trim, you get a 1.8-litre four-cylinder engine that produces 139 horsepower and pairs with a continuously variable transmission (CVT) at the base level. The six-speed manual transmission is no longer an option in Canada.

The 2023 Nissan Versa rings in at $18,298, making it one of the cheapest new cars you can buy at a Canadian new car dealership. You get a 1.6-litre four-cylinder engine that pushes 122 horsepower through a five-speed manual transmission at the base level.

The 2023 Mitsubishi Mirage qualifies for our list of the cheapest new cars in Canada with its starting price of $14,298. At this price point, you'll get a tiny 1.2-litre three-cylinder engine that produces all of 78 horsepower paired with a five-speed manual transmission.

It might seem like investing in the cheapest Honda car is a good idea. After all, you get to save money while purchasing a vehicle to help you get where you need to go. However, driving a poorly made car can be dangerous. Is a cheap Honda worth it, or should you spend more money?

Even though they are not the cheapest brand, they have a lot to offer. Honda is a well-established company that has proven its reliability over the years. If you invest in the cheapest Honda car on the market, you know you can trust it on the road.

On the other end of the spectrum, what is the most expensive Honda on the market? What is the price difference between the cheapest Honda car and the most expensive Honda car available to drivers today?
